A gentle breeze blew through the flowers and grass in the garden. The movement of the bell arconen flowers created the lovely ringing sound they were named for as their lustrous pink blooms waved in the wind.

Ouzin had run as fast as his feet could carry him, but with the roots, large bushes, and branches, he couldn’t get as far as he felt was safe. Even with his enhanced vision, the darkness of the forest floor was imposing, so he created little lights and used them to guide him through the rough terrain.

The sound of the wind wiping up sand sounded uncomfortably like a swarm of flies, and indeed the Kroshta desert felt alive. It was easy to believe that each grain of sand had some sentience and intended to batter him down, in the same way the sand storms have brutally battered all the land in the Kroshta desert to the smoothness of glass.

Kana walked with Rolt through an ornate network of rocks twisting in impossible formations. The walls curved in fluid angles, monumental arches delicately balanced on willow structures, and the earth was a marble orange and white gem of fire beneath the desert sun.
The Return of Rick Lupaine
Rick stood in front of the large windows, wanting to bang his head against the glass, but instead, he chose the more sane route of enjoying the view. From this height, he could see the entirety of Cajara’s capital city directly beneath him and all the way out to the flat open spaces and rolling iridescent hills of the countryside.
